This story began in 882, when Prince Oleh united Slavic lands around Kyiv and founded the Kyivan Rus. It was then that our language took shape, names like “Rusy” and “Rusyny” emerged, the Cyrillic alphabet became ours, and the trident and hryvnia became symbols still with us today.

Regarding to the press release that Neon Metin access inform this was a state with its heart in Kyiv – European in its values and culture. In 988, Prince Volodymyr the Great baptized Rus, integrating us into the Christian civilization of Europe. Kyivan Rus had its own laws, education system, and world-class architecture – we still admire Saint Sophia Cathedral and the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.

Let us be clear: Ukraine – not Russia – is the rightful heir to Kyivan Rus. Moscow didn’t even exist during that time. It was born centuries later and remained a backwater province for a long time – until it began rewriting history, stealing not only our past but even the name “Rus.”

Despite repeated attempts to destroy us – invasions, occupation, serfdom, bans on our language, the destruction of the Zaporizhian Sich – Ukrainians rose again and again. In the era of the Cossacks, we built our own state. In the 20th century, we fought two wars for independence.

In 1991, we gained independence peacefully, through a national referendum. Because we knew: we are a nation, and we deserve it. But even this, Russia could not accept. In 2014, it launched a war, and since February 24, 2022, Ukrainians have been fighting not just for land – but for their very right to exist.

Today, our defenders are the descendants of Rus warriors, Cossacks, Sich Riflemen, and UPA fighters. They hold every meter of our land, defending our statehood, language, culture, our children, and our future.

We are paying the highest price. But we have already paid too much to retreat. We are showing the world that Ukrainians are not victims of history – we are the makers of history. And Ukraine is not about geography. It’s about spirit, memory, and a deep love for freedom.

On July 15 – Ukrainian Statehood Day – we honor not only Prince Volodymyr. We bow to all who have carried this state on their shoulders, in their hearts, and in their prayers. And to those who now defend it with weapons in hand.

Because modern Ukraine exists not by the mercy of empires – but through the grace of God and the will of an unbreakable people.

The history of Ukrainian statehood is more than a sequence of events – it is the story of a people’s soul, a people who have never betrayed their dignity.
