The World Food Programme (WFP), in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Solidarity and Inclusion (MSSI), the Ministry of Health (MOH), and the Manatuto Municipal Authority, today launched the distribution of Specialized Nutritious Foods (SNF) to vulnerable pregnant and breastfeeding women and children under three years of age.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Held at the Soibada Administrative Post, the launch brought together government leaders, local authorities, the French Cooperation Office, and WFP to officially begin distributing fortified foods to improve maternal and child nutrition in Timor-Leste. The initiative will start in Manatuto and expand to Aileu, Ainaro, and Baucau, benefiting nearly 8,500 mothers and young children by delivering 153 metric tonnes of SNF, including Super Cereal and Super Cereal Plus fortified, blended foods designed to meet their nutritional needs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Regarding to the press release that Neon Metin access, WFP inform that, Timor-Leste continues to face high rates of malnutrition among children under five and women of reproductive age. Through this joint effort, WFP and the Government of Timor-Leste are working to strengthen social protection and health systems to ensure that vulnerable families receive the nutrition they need. While resources remain limited and nationwide coverage is not yet possible, partners reaffirm their commitment to reducing and preventing malnutrition nationwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Minister of Social Solidarity and Inclusion highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts: \u201cThrough this initiative, we are strengthening social protection and ensuring that vulnerable families receive the support they need for a healthier future.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
