The Western Sahara-East Timor Solidarity Movement strongly condemns Morocco as the dominant force in the territory of Western Sahara, because the people of the Sahara feel like a prison and very dark because these strategic territories are transformed according to the needs of the invaders who are supported by the imperialist ideological apparatus. Morocco continues to invade and surround every citizen’s home, build military bases in neighborhoods, torture, arbitrary detention, physical aggregation, intentional medical neglect, illegal detention of children, young women and men including the elderly, and torture of people with physical disability in the form of daily discrimination in Western Sahara and continued illegal exploitation of natural resources.
This declaration of solidarity is a document of resistance for citizens who participated in the Asean People Forum for three days. Morocco as a potential invader to illegally occupy territory with impunity in the provinces of Western Sahara and also impunity against the Saharawi population, Morocco continues to show its ignorance of violating international law and violating Security Council (CS) resolutions 1514 and 1541 in 1963/64 that the decolonization committee determined the right to self-determination to apply to the people of the Sahara to choose independence, to associate with an independent state.
The Solidarity Movement also appeals to the international community in the framework of the Asean People Forum Regional Conference in Dili.
- Continue to recognize Western Sahara’s right to self-determination as an independent state.
- Call on the Kingdom of Morocco to cease military aggression and withdraw from Western Sahara,
- Ask the Kingdom of Morocco to respect international humanitarian law that prohibits attacks on civilians during a war.
