Sai Zaw Thaike, a Journalist from Myanmar experienced legal violation from the military authorities and was sentenced to 20 years in prison with hard labor by a military tribunal without a lawyer or a fair trial. He has been accused of spreading false information, inciting fear, and defaming the military junta that seized power in February 2021. Additionally, he was charged with sedition, a serious crime against the state.
Violence against journalists is a serious issue that endangers press freedom and the safety of those who report on crucial issues within the country.
